The Excitement of the EFL Play-Off Finals
League football may have finished but that doesn’t mean the drama of the finals has! Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had the excitement of the EFL play-offs taking over our screens. Throughout June, we have the highs and lows of some of the most important games in English and European football to look forward to. And, we have some of the very best vintage football shirts to go alongside the big occasions.
The EFL Play-Off Finals
Over the past weeks, some of the biggest games in the English Football League took place — the play-off finals. These finals are some of the biggest games in club history, bringing in money, fans and ultimately, the chance to play at a higher level.
Championship Play-Off Final
The play-off weekend was kicked off by Coventry and Luton who were watched by a sold out Wembley Stadium. Luton put in a strong first half performance despite losing their captain early on. They went 1-0 up within 25 minutes and had 2 goals disallowed in the first half!
Coventry came out stronger in the second half, bringing it level in the 66th minute thanks to a Gyokeres and Hamer link up, one that we’ve seen so much throughout the season.
120 minutes couldn’t separate the two sides, the game went to penalties. After 11 penalties, Dabo stepped up for Coventry who put it high and wide. This miss saw Luton get promoted to the Premier League for the first time in 31 years — meaning Kenilworth Road will officially be a Premier League stadium.
League 1 & 2 Play-Off Final
After the drama of the Championship final, next on the schedule was the League 2 final between Carlisle United and Stockport — another one that went to penalties.
After a first half own goal from Carlisle, Stockport were in the driver's seat for the majority of the game — it looked like Stockport were on track to gain back-to-back promotions. It took a late 85th minute Carlisle United goal to put Stockport’s League 1 dreams on hold for at least 30 minutes. After extra time, the teams were level and the second final of the weekend went to penalties which saw Carlisle United promoted to League 1 for the first time in 9 years after a 5-4 shootout win.
The final game of the play-off weekend was the League 1 play-off final, Sheffield Wednesday who were playing in a Yorkshire derby final again against Barnsley. Their last day out at Wembley ended in heartbreak because of a Mo Diame wonderstrike for Hull City back in 2016.
After a controversial two halves, the game went to extra time after a solid defensive performance from Barnsley who went down to 10 men early on. The game went into the 120th minute still level at 0-0 and it was looking like it was going to be a hat-trick of penalty deciding finals.
That was until Josh Windass stepped up and followed in his father’s footsteps, scoring the winner in the 123rd minute to put Wednesday ahead — 15 years after the famous volley from Dean Windass for Hull.

The Run-up to the End of the 2022/2023 Season
The month of May is one that all football fans dread - the end of the season is fast approaching and the football-less weekends will be back. It’s been a season of huge ups and downs, shock results and record breaking performances but, just because the season is coming to an end, that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to one of our vintage English football shirts in time for Summer!
Premier League 2023/24 Season Round-up
The whole Premier League Season has been nothing short of entertaining from the start up until the final matchday, taking place on 28th May and, as things stand, it could well be a title deciding game.
Since the start of the season, it was clear that Manchester City and Arsenal were the two teams to fear. They both currently sit 1 point apart with City in first and Arsenal in second — the last few games of the season will be crucial in who takes the title home. Just last month, Arsenal were 8 points clear of City, however after a set of poor performances and dropping 3 points to their title rivals, are they beginning to fold under the pressure?
The fight to avoid relegation is also just as close and exciting for the neutrals. Leicester, Leeds, Forest and Everton are all contenders for relegation with just 1 point separating all four teams with a handful of games left. Southampton are almost guaranteed Championship football next season after their incredibly poor year but who else will be saying bye to the Premier League?
If you’re looking to get a vintage Premier League football shirt before the end of the season and in time for the warm summer weather, we have one of the most impressive collections in the industry!
Championship 2022/23 Overview
With the bottom three and top two of the Championship already confirmed, the main focus is who will manage to secure a playoff spot when it comes down to the last game of the season.
The stand outs this season have been Burnley and Sheffield United. With the potential to finish this season with over 100 points and almost 20 points ahead of third place Luton, could this Burnley team be one of the best we’ve seen in recent Championship years?
Luton Town have secured a third place finish and Middlesbrough a 4th place spot, 5th and 6th all come down to the last game of the season. Currently, Coventry, Millwall, Sunderland, West Brom and Blackburn are in the running with just 3 points separating the teams in 5th to 9th.

Vintage Premier League & Champions League Football Shirts

The Top Flight Tidings
The 2022/23 season has seen its fair share of crazy results, questionable decisions and exciting drama. From the get go, we’ve seen unexpected results, some of the very first coming when Brentford beat United 4-0, Leeds humiliating Chelsea 3-0 and Liverpool thrashing Bournemouth 9-0 — and that was just the first 4 match days!
Three days after *that* Bournemouth humbling, we saw our first sacking of this Premier League season after Scott Parker’s men conceded 16 goals in their first 4 matches, only scoring 2.
The next sacking came just 8 days later when Chelsea said their goodbyes to Thomas Tuchel. Fast forward to today and the Premier League manager sacking record has been broken, with 13 managers being sacked in total, so far. The previous record was 10 sackings in a single season which was first set in the 2013/14 season.
The Race for Top 4
This season has been full of surprises but one of the biggest has certainly been the current league standings. After narrowly missing out on the title last season by being 1 point behind Manchester City, Liverpool are currently sitting in 8th, a pretty poor top half position for their standards.
With Arsenal last winning a Premier League trophy in their 2003/04 ‘Invincible’ season, they’re currently leading this title race ahead of Manchester City. Two decades later, could this finally be their season?
The fight for Champions League football is just as exciting. With Newcastle, Spurs, Manchester United and even Aston Villa all within a few points, the race for top 4 is well and truly on. Villa, who would've thought?
If you’re in need of an authentic vintage Premier League football shirt before the end of the season, we’ve got you covered.

The January Ins & Outs Roundup
Before the Champions League kicks off, there’s still a few rounds of Premier League action to look forward to, hopefully seeing some new faces in the league.
There’s been plenty of activity in this transfer window, in fact, every premier league team has signed at least one player except Crystal Palace, Fulham & Everton. Some teams have been more active than others and some deals have been bigger than others, a lot bigger…
Chelsea
New Chelsea owner and manager, Todd Boehly and Graham Potter, are both seeing how big of a job they have with the rebuild of Chelsea. This January transfer window, they have certainly splashed the cash, spending well over £300 million.
With the likes of Mudryk coming in for almost £90 million, Englishman Madueke coming in for almost £30 million and Badiashile arriving for £35 million, not to mention the millions spent to bring in Joao Felix on loan, David Fofana and Andrey Santos. Chelsea are hoping their second half of their season can be turned around. Currently sitting 10th, their season has definitely not been up to the standards the fans are used to.
If you’re a Chelsea fan looking for something a bit nicer to look at than the current league table, we have a range of vintage Chelsea tops, shorts and jackets in stock.
Tottenham
After scraping a Champions League spot last season over their North London rivals Arsenal, Spurs will be hoping that this season, they can again grasp onto a UEFA Champions League spot — currently sitting 5th, 5 points clear of Brighton in 6th and only a 3 points behind Manchester United in 4th.
After having a rather quiet transfer window compared to last year when they welcomed Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This January they welcomed Arnaut Danjuma in the hope to bolster their attack. It was almost certain that Danjuma would be joining Everton, with reports suggesting he was even meeting with Everton players, Spurs swooped in and the paper was signed.
If you’re looking for some classic Premier League shirts, then make sure to head over to our website — we have loads of teams available!
Around The League
There’s been a lot of other action around the league in terms of signings as well. With Wolves confirming the signing of experienced Spanish attacking midfielder Pablo Sarabia amongst 3 other signings. West Ham brought in Danny Ings from claret and blue rivals, Aston Villa. Leeds United smashed their club record signing fee by bringing in Georginio Rutter from the Bundesliga, just to name a few.
Who’s going to be the biggest flop and biggest stars?
