Vintage Euro's Football Shirts Ready for Euro 2024

Vintage Euro's Football Shirts Ready for Euro 2024

With the Euro 2024 underway, the excitement is building and the weather is getting warmer - hopefully, we’re in for a good tournament. With 24 teams taking part in the competition across 10 of the most iconic German stadiums, each team will be looking to make history, break records and ultimately take one of the most iconic trophies in world football home with them. No matter who you’re backing or where you’re watching, the Summer football tournaments are the perfect time to impress your mates with a Euro's Vintage Football Shirt - we’re here to build even more excitement.

Who Are Favourites for the Euros?

With 24 teams going into the competition, we won’t know the definitive winner until the 14th of July but for now, we can look at statistics and odds - just to build the excitement even more!

Georgia are entering their first ever European Championship this year, making history after attempting to qualify for every tournament from 1996 onwards.

Italy are looking to defend their European Championship after they beat England in the last competition however, going into the tournament they’re 7th favourites to win the competition.

Ronaldo will be looking to add to his international trophy cabinet for what could be his last international competition, however, Portugal are joint 5th favourites with the Netherlands to win the competition.

Spain are 4th favourite to win what would be their 4th European Championship trophy, which would make them the most successful team in the competition history - Spain and Germany currently both have won the competition three times.

Third favourite for the trophy is the hosts, Germany. Having already won the championship three times (1972, 1980 & 1996). Looking to add to their trophy cabinet, the last international competition they won was 10 years ago - the 2014 Brazil World Cup.

Finally, what you’ve been waiting for, the two teams who have been predicted to most likely reach the final are England and France. Looking to end their trophy drought, England hasn’t won any competition since the 1966 World Cup, almost 60 years ago. Gareth Southgate’s men enter the group stages with slightly better odds than France to win - but we all know when it comes to football (and England), can we truly rely on supercomputers and bookies’ favourites?

Here at TVFS, we’re hopeful the Three Lions can go all the way and finally bring football home again and to celebrate the occasion, we’ve got our Vintage England Shirts on already!

A Look Back on a Season of Highs & Lows | That Vintage Football Shirt

A Look Back on a Season of Highs & Lows

The 2023/24 season is nearing its end, and if you’re a fan of an EFL team then your season may have already ended. It’s been a season full of surprises, shocks and record-breaking. Whether your team over-achieved, under-achieved or performed exactly how you expected - this season has certainly been one we can look back on with plenty of discussion.

Premier League Evaluation

The 2023/24 Premier League season has had excitement from the very start with tight battles at both ends of the table. As we near the final stages, Sheffield United could be joined by either Burnley Luton or Nottingham Forest as this season’s relegated three - although it looks extremely unlikely for Burnley to claim survival.

This season has also been a record-breaking season for some clubs. Firstly, Bournemouth recorded their highest-ever points tally. This season has been the most ever goals scored in a 20-team season, the previous record was 1084 goals set last season. If you’re a Sheffield United fan, look away now - the Blades have had a record-breaking season for all the wrong reasons.

This season, Chris Wilder’s team have already conceded 100 goals, conceding 1 more goal this season will break the record for most goals conceded in a single season. They’ve also conceded the most premier league goals at home in a season, breaking the previous record. The Blades are also on track to break the worst goal difference in a season, previously set by Derby County at -69 - Sheffield United sit on -65 still with games to play. Despite all this, Derby’s lowest-ever point tally still stands as Sheffield United currently sit on 16 points - swings and roundabouts, Blades fans.

EFL Fairytales

One of the biggest stories to come out of English football this season was Kieran McKenna’s boys in blue. After gaining automatic promotion from League 1 last season, finishing 2 points ahead of Sheffield Wednesday, the Tractor Boys won 9 of their first 10 Championship matches and secured back-to-back promotions - returning to the Premier League after 22 years and becoming the first club since Southampton in 2012 to gain back-to-back promotions from tier 3 to tier 1 of English Football.

Leicester City were crowned champions with Leeds and Southampton also up there - as expected following their relegations and calibre of players. The final play-off standings are Leeds United, Southampton, West Brom and Norwich

Plymouth Argyle secured final-day survival with a 1-0 win over Hull, which sent Birmingham City to League 1. Rotherham United saw one of the worst Championship campaigns since the league was formed, finishing on 27 points, 24 points away from safety. The only team to ever perform worse than this Rotherham side was Blackpool’s 2014/2015 squad who finished on 26 points.

Celebrations Elsewhere

Ipswich weren’t the only team to secure back-to-back promotions this season as Wrexham continued their promotion party from last year, finishing second in League 2 after their storm of the National League last season. Stockport took the League Two trophy and will be joining the Hollywood-backed team in League One come August.

In League One, two former Championship giants marked their return the one of the most competitive leagues in the world. After a strong season, Portsmouth were crowned Champions with Derby County claiming the other automatic promotion spot.

Vintage Manchester United Shirts: The Most Iconic over the Years

Manchester United, one of the most successful teams in England and was once feared as one of the most intimidating teams in the world. Since Sir Alex Ferguson hung up his managerial boots, United have struggled to maintain the dominance they once had, but that doesn’t take away from their previous success and of course, their classic kits. Manchester United 2004/2005 Home Kit

The 2004/2–5 season was United’s 13th season in the premier league and 30th consecutive season in the top flight. Although this season finished trophyless, there was one iconic moment which brought Manchester United fans years of joy - the signing of Wayne Rooney. In the summer of 2004, Rooney joined the Boys in Red for £25.6 million as a 19-year-old, 20 years on, he is the record goalscorer for United. Other than the golden boy signing, United watched a relatively disappointing season finishing 3rd in the Premier League, a League Cup semi-final loss, a shoot-out FA Cup final loss and a first knockout round defeat in the Champions League.

2024 January Transfer Window Ins & Outs

2024 January Transfer Window Ins & Outs

The 1st of February 2024 saw the 2024 January transfer window slam shut in England. Every year, there are huge rumours, shock moves and big news. The first transfer window of 2024 certainly didn’t disappoint. Here’s some of the biggest news from January 2024.

Premier League January Transfer Window News

Potentially the biggest news that came out of the winter window wasn’t even a transfer! Towards the end of January, Liverpool legend, Jürgen Klopp announced that he would be leaving at the end of the season. After 9 incredibly successful seasons, will Klopp be leaving Anfield with another Premier League trophy? Liverpool are currently sitting at the top of the table, with Manchester City hoping to close the gap with their game-in-hand.

Now talking about the actual transfers, January was a rather quiet one in terms of money spent. After a record-breaking £2.44 billion spent in the Summer by Premier League clubs, only £96.2 million was spent this January. One of the biggest reasons for this is the recent profitability and sustainability rules which have been hitting clubs throughout the league. Manchester City are still being investigated, Nottingham Forest have been charged and Everton were deducted 10 points this season. This has led to a lot of Premier League clubs keeping a low radar this window.

Brighton stuck to their philosophy of signing young, high-potential players and brought in 6 players permanently, all of whom are under 20 years old, including Argentinian wonder kid Valentin Barco. Crystal Palace, surprisingly, were one of the league's top spenders after bringing in Adam Wharton for £22 million and Daniel Munoz for £8.5 million. Spurs were also active and brought in Timo Werner on loan and spent almost £27 million on Radu Dragusin. They also hijacked a deal for Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall, who was close to joining Barcelona. The transfer won’t go through until the Summer.

    Other Premier League transfers

    • Kosta Nedeljkovic to Aston Villa from Red Star Belgarde for £7.8 million
    • Enes Unal to Bournemouth from Getafe on loan
    • Sergio Reguilon to Brentford on loan from Tottenham
    • David Datro Fofana to Burnley on loan from Chelsea
    • Armando Broja on loan to Fulham from Chelsea
    • Alfie Harrison to Newcastle from Manchester City
    • Giovanni Reyna on loan to Nottingham Forest from Dortmund
    • Kalvin Phillips on loan to West Ham from Manchester City

2024 January Transfer Window Ins & Outs, Classic Football Shirts, That Vintage Football Shirt

    EFL January Transfers

A potential for the best January transfer window came from Championship play-off hopefuls, Hull City. After being hit with injuries in the run-up to the window, Hull needed to bolster their squad in the hope of keeping up their play-off dreams alive - and they did just that.

Their defence was improved with the signings of Croatian U23 international goalkeeper Ivor Pandur and Ryan Giles who previously excelled at Middlesborough. Their midfield was strengthened with the additions of Turkish international and league and cup winner Abdulkadir Omur as well as two Championship winners in Fabio Carvalho and Anass Zaroury. Championship veteran Billy Sharp along with Netherland’s U21 Noah Ohio were brought in to help solve the injury problems up top. Quite the window for The Tigers.

The Championship Winter window also saw Alex Pritchard walk away from Sunderland and straight into the Birmingham squad for a steal of £200,000. Blackburn brought in 7 signings in the hope of improving their current bottom-half position they did however lose their star man Adam Wharton. Ipswich brought in Wimbledon striker Ali Al-Hamadi along with three others to ensure they keep a hold of the automatic promotion spot. Middlesbrough lost their star player Morgan Rogers to Aston Villa for £8 million.

Are you happy with how your club have handled their January transfers? As a vintage football shop based in Hull, we’re extremely happy with the way the transfer window has gone for us and are hopeful of a Wembley trip come May!
