Who Are Favourites for the Euros?
With 24 teams going into the competition, we won’t know the definitive winner until the 14th of July but for now, we can look at statistics and odds - just to build the excitement even more!
Georgia are entering their first ever European Championship this year, making history after attempting to qualify for every tournament from 1996 onwards.
Italy are looking to defend their European Championship after they beat England in the last competition however, going into the tournament they’re 7th favourites to win the competition.
Ronaldo will be looking to add to his international trophy cabinet for what could be his last international competition, however, Portugal are joint 5th favourites with the Netherlands to win the competition.
Spain are 4th favourite to win what would be their 4th European Championship trophy, which would make them the most successful team in the competition history - Spain and Germany currently both have won the competition three times.
Third favourite for the trophy is the hosts, Germany. Having already won the championship three times (1972, 1980 & 1996). Looking to add to their trophy cabinet, the last international competition they won was 10 years ago - the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
Finally, what you’ve been waiting for, the two teams who have been predicted to most likely reach the final are England and France. Looking to end their trophy drought, England hasn’t won any competition since the 1966 World Cup, almost 60 years ago. Gareth Southgate’s men enter the group stages with slightly better odds than France to win - but we all know when it comes to football (and England), can we truly rely on supercomputers and bookies’ favourites?
